The Pros And Cons Of Buying A Garden Lawnmower
Aug 28th, 2010 by Myarticle

Cutting the grass in your garden is essential if you want to keep your garden healthy and looking good.  Buying a decent garden lawnmower will help make your life a lot easier and will make your garden look great.  There are a lot of fantastic garden lawnmowers out there but choosing one that is suitable can be difficult.  There are a number of factors you need to consider including the size of your garden and budget.

Blade Types

Rotary Blades – Rotary style garden lawnmowers are the most common type that you will find.  You can tell they are rotary as they have blades that rotate.  The problem with rotary blades is that they hack away at the grass leaving a slightly torn blade of grass.  If you get one with a good, heavy roller on the back it will help to give your lawn a striped look.

Cylinder Mowers – A cylinder mower is the sort with circular blades on it like the ones that you tend to push around a lawn.  This can be a lot of effort but there are petrol powered cylinder mowers, however they do cost a lot.  The big benefit though is that cylinder garden lawnmowers can achieve a flawless effect for your lawn.

Lawnmowers

Electric Lawnmowers – If you have a small garden then an electric mower is going to be the best choice for you.  Out of all garden lawnmowers, electric ones tend to be the cheapest that you can get.  They are easy to maintain and use for the price that you pay, which makes them a bargain.  The only drawback is that they are the least powerful.

Petrol Lawnmowers – Petrol lawnmowers are great as you can move them around easily as they don’t have a cable restricting them.  They are also much more powerful and can handle overgrown areas.  One thing with petrol mowers is that you need to regularly check on the oil levels and make sure they are maintained on a regular basis.

Ride Ons – Probably the most fun way of cutting grass is with ride on garden lawnmowers.  Large areas of lawn that have different shapes in them can be easily tackled with a ride on lawnmower.  Like petrol mowers ride ons require a lot of maintenance and they do cost a fair amount to buy.  They are however a lot of fun and are very effective for cutting large areas.
