There are, of course, some of these in particular that do not fare too well in a pots since some need a lot of space to grow and develop ie. Sesame. Some of you will want to grow your fresh herbs for medicinal purposes as well as culinary or visual reasons. Many herbs have healing properties which make them useful while with others can easily be harvested directly into the cooking pot.

It is best to use potting mix for your potted herb garden to enjoy the maximum advantages of the herbs. Ordinary soil may not be able to supply the necessary nutrients for optimum growth. A good potting soil however, will have the right mixture for your herbs’ development. If possible use an organic soil too. Do not use chemical pesticides and herbicides for your potted herb garden. Many plants prefer a sunny spot in the window sill than a dark alcove. Click here for more information on growing your own fresh herbs indoors: Growing Fresh Herbs at Home
