the start of this song makes me have to pee. (thats how amazing it is)
I still get very emotional whenever I listen to this track. It is brilliant in every way.
Andy should include this as part of his symphony to be performed at the Albert Hall maybe with the LSO and all the great musicians who are XTC fans. I don’t think there would be any shortage of fans singing up for the project 🙂
Just an idea…
For all my gardening friends… water on…..
i agree, i remember wen i fist heard this song, i was amazed 🙂
YOU SET THE SCENE BY LOVE IS VERY ORCHESTRAL TOO! I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET THE FOREVER CHANGES BY LOVE TOUR DVD! ANDY PARTRIDGE AND ARTHUR LEE ARE BOTH UNDERRATED MUSICAL LEGENDS! SO DEADLY THEY HAVE NO COMPETITION !!!
It reminds me of being a child
@HipperShake My ex gave me the album because I was listening to this and paying no attention to her for days XD
@HipperShake – couldn’t agree more – those of us that have found mr partridge are livelong – blessed!
Take a packet of seeds tale YOURSELF OUT TO PLAY
@xyaqua I echo your comments about Andy Partridge 100%…A genuine genius….But such talent never leaves you…So I hope he is back recording soon. You cant just stop dreaming up total brilliance because you want to.
Even Beethoven sketched a 10th symphony. So, let’s get at it! More!!
I thought it was “Take your packet of seeds, take yourself out to play” but I like the saffron toupee – very clever! Great song!
@snowwaif
Arrgh, no! Please don’t equate Andy Partridge’s quirky genius with…..S-S-…can’t say it…..S-S-Sting!
Nooooooooo!! 😉
“Take your packet of seeds, take your saffron toupee.” Or so I heard.
Andy Partridge can NEVER be fully appreciated. His music speaks to the memory, which is by definiton not in the here and now. But he will be one of the ten most remembered musicians of all time, by those with a memory.
How can a genious like Andy Partridge just stop writing music??? He may think Apple Venus is as good as he can get it. He probably can’t top this one, but I’m ready for your second best, Andy.
a walk across the rooftops,by blue nile,is something similar.
I’d stretch my neck out and say Arthur Russell
This is one of the most remarkable songs I have ever heard – musically and technically astonishing but also very moving. At the moment, I have to listen to it every day – and hear something new and uplifting in it every time.
Unique and untouchable. What else can you say!
One of my Faves…….
