National Geographic Complete Birds of North America, 2nd Edition: More Than 1,000 Species Detailed Information Single Volume
June 20th, 2015 by Aldouspi

If there is one book to keep in the car you use for the family vacation or to go camping or traveling in general – it is this bird book. It is the best volume to have anywhere in North America – when someone asks: “What kind of bird is that?”

Instead of answering with uncertainty – “Maybe it is a black-backed woodpecker?” or “I bet it is a bluejay.” Get this book and you will be able to answer with certainty, just what species of bird you are seeing and hearing, plus give a lot more details.

This is just a nice book to have for yourself or to give to anyone who is interested about our feathered friends.

Turns out it was a Great Spotted Woodpecker, who knew?

National Geographic has delivered another great book. This edition has over 20 new birds. New artwork and new updated maps make this a nice update of the 1st edition.

My dad is a nature lover and has every book you can imagine- but he was pretty excited to get this. One of the better gifts I’ve gotten him in recent years. The book is glossy and updated- perfect for any nature fan. Shipping was perfect.

too heavy for a “field” guide, June 7, 2015
This review is from: National Geographic Complete Birds of North America, 2nd Edition: Now Covering More Than 1,000 Species With the Most-Detailed Information Found in a Single Volume (Hardcover)
National Geographic has come out with another great guide. My wife and I finally got around to buying an updated version, going from the 3rd edition to the 6th edition. With its increased weight and size, we find that it has become a “filed” guide in name only, being relegated to a guide being left in the car or at home, taking either the Sibley/Kaufman/Peterson Eastern Birds in the filed.
