Binocular Strap

A binocular strap is any type of device that attaches your optics to you without having to use your hands to carry it. It could be an actual pouch that attaches to your belt, or a singular band of some sort that hangs on your neck, or even a harness that is designed to carry your optics for you. There are thousands of binocular strap options for you to choose from. It’s your job to choose the best one.

The problem with using the attachable pouch as your binocular strap is that it is not very convenient at all. While carrying your optics on your hip is a more comfortable option than on your neck (because nothing is comfortable on your neck), it is not that easy to get the optics in and out quickly. After all, the point of having your optics is to be able to see what you’re out to see. If you have to unhook, unzip, unbutton or unsnap latches to pull your optics out that is several seconds wasted. When it comes to narrowing down your binocular strap options, the pouch should be out.

The positive aspect about a neck binocular strap is the fact that it is easily accessed on your chest. You only have to raise it to eye level in order to see what you want. No fumbling with snaps or buttons to see what you want to see when you want to see it. That is, unfortunately, the only positive aspect of the neck binocular strap. The cons actually outweigh the pros for this option as well.

This cons of the neck binocular strap are that it is loosely hung around the neck which means it can fly around as you move and bump into any and everything. It’s not a safe or protective option for your equipment. It is also very straining on your neck. So that leaves the last option which is a harness binocular strap. Truly, of all your options, this one gives you a positive answer for each of the afore mentioned dilemmas’. The harness binocular strap is the only way to go.
