Protect Your Knees Gardening with Knee Pads

The older I get, the more I want to protect my knees. When I was young, weeding or any type of chore that included kneeling down on the ground or floor was so easy. Nowadays, knee pains tell to me be smarter. Which is why protective knee pads are a part of my gardening, cleaning and general work tool kit. Little League baseball catchers, skateboarders, professional football players and even ice skaters use them, so why not me and you?

There are two types of knee pads that you should consider and you may want to get them both. The first is an actual pad – a padded rectangle of water proof, durable material large enough to kneel on. Something you can place next to the edge of a flower bed and place your knees on while pulling out some weeds. Such pads are light and easy to carry.

The second type of knee pad to check out are flexible pads that are tied around the kneecap of each leg. Such padding may seem awkward, at first, both these kinds of knee pads is great for longer periods of contact with hard surfaces like rocky soil or hardwood floors.

Ultimately, the value of garden knee pads depends on several factors, including their quality, durability, comfort, and the frequency with which you use them. Here are some considerations:

Protection: Good knee pads should provide ample protection for your knees against rough surfaces, sharp objects, and hard ground in the garden. They should have adequate padding to cushion your knees and prevent injuries.

Durability: The value of knee pads increases if they are durable and long-lasting. Look for knee pads made from sturdy materials that can withstand the rigors of gardening activities over time.

Comfort: Comfort is key, especially if you spend extended periods in the garden. Knee pads with adjustable straps, breathable materials, and ergonomic designs enhance comfort and make them more valuable.

Versatility: Some knee pads are multipurpose and can be used for various tasks beyond gardening, such as construction work or DIY projects. Versatile knee pads offer more value for money.

Knee pads have made a big difference in protecting my knee health. And as with many things, I wish I had started to use them earlier in life. But as I long as I keep living and learning, I won’t complain…

News About Knee Pads

Pulling Weeds

I feel self-conscious calling
       some plants weeds –

Take the dandelion,
        an early spring, bright flower
up in time to feed
       re-awakening bees,
but a couple of more weeks
       and they most go
from the scene.

All the other unplanned plants
are visitors that have their place
in the scheme of things,
just not right here robbing roses
of their nutrients and sun.

I’m always allowing, with an open heart,
a spot of wild in my yard,
neatly bordered in stone or bushes,
       where nature decides what grows
according to its plan –
       for I don’t know everything.
