How are your orchids growing? I hope it is doing well because if it is then you are probably on the right lines. If you are struggling a bit then you need to think about knowing a bit more about orchid care. Once you have mastered the basics then you will be in a much better position and feel more relaxed about it.
It is easy to see why that people think that orchid care is difficult when they research it for the first time. This is why a lot of people don’t even try to look after orchids. I don’t like to see this happening because will a little experience you will become much better.
Not a lot of people know how much water they should be giving the orchid. Unfortunately it is the reason why a lot of orchids die. If you are going to get anything right about caring for orchids make sure it is the watering. Do not over water your orchid. It only requires watering about once per week, no more than that. Always check right under the soil to ensure that it is completely dry before you water it. If in doubt leave it a bit longer.
If you have just received your orchid then you shouldn’t have to re-pot for a while. When that time comes, which should be a spring, re-pot in a pot that is not too large because orchids don’t like large pots. Also make sure that the soil is soaked through at the time of re-potting.
Orchids love the sun. The more light you give it the better… but there is a limit. Like anything with orchid care, once you become more experienced you will have a feel for how long to have them in direct sunlight.
My aim was to give you some of the basics of orchid care. I hope that you can use some of these techniques on your orchid. Please keep at it because although you will make mistakes you will learn from them.
