A number of herbs have properties of medicine and healing, which is also something you could learn about. You can make teas or tinctures out of your herbs that are healthy to take as tonics, or useful for treating various ailments. Herb gardens are fun, simple and practical, and your health and taste buds can be benefited by herbs.
Although it is possible to get physically fit and lose weight doing gardening, you might not think about this as an activity to become healthier. If you are consistent about your gardening efforts, this physical fitness can become your reality. Gardening actually takes a lot of moving around, lifting, and bending, things which will make you more fit the more that you do them. If you are doing a lot of composting, or moving rocks that are in your dirt, you will have quite a bit of exercise and will improve day by day. In summary, gardening brings about many benefits, though most people would just sum them up by saying that having a garden is fun or rewarding. Even if you’ve never gardened before, and perhaps have limited space, there’s no reason why you can’t start out with a small garden. You can even start one on your porch or in your kitchen if that’s the only space you have.
