After a bad experience with a herb seed kit bought in a clearance sale in a store, I contacted Aerogarden’s customer support and they sent me out a new pack of Italian herbs for free (they guarantee their kits, so will replace if they don’t germinate). I was told that Aerogarden are no longer selling seed kits through stores – as the stores do not always keep them at the proper temperature, etc. and this affects germination.
However all seven herbs in the new kit sprouted quickly and soon grew very large, the basil in particular. Soon I had to cut it every few days to keep it within the garden! Very happy with both Aerogarden’s customer service and their product.

Only the basil plant sprouted. The others developed a mold and I threw them out. I do have a hearty basil plant which I intend to use this week in a fresh tomato soup.

I’ve just started being able to harvest some of my herbs from this kit. I’ve always had 100% germination with the Aerogarden seed kits, although this kit only had on little chive seed germinate. Hopefully it will grow more leaves for me to cut off. I love being able to have my aerogarden on the counter (basically taking care of itself for me) to harvest herbs to cook with whenever I need them. It generally produces enough herbs each cycle that I have to fill multiple ziplocks with the dried leaves. – Jessica
